Research activity is in the area of polymer processing, with focus on injection molding and micro injection molding. Research topics include precision injection molding of aesthetic components, micro injection molding, injection molding of bonded magnets, fiber damage in processing reinforced plastics, hybrid forming processes for polymer-metal macro composites and polymer rheology under process conditions.
Giovanni Lucchetta is author of over 60 publications on international journals or proceedings of international conferences.
Referee of international journals (including: Polymer Engineering and Science, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Materials and Manufacturing Processes, Express Polymer Letters) and member of the scientific committee of international conferences (recently: 5th International Conference on Polymers and Moulds Innovations).
The research activities have been carried out in the framework of international European projects (Growth, Eureka-Factory, Craft), Government funded programs (MIUR-PRIN) and research contracts with manufacturing companies, including the following:
EU project Eurostars “CellDiaSP - Cell-Diagnostics Sample-Preparation Polymer BioMEMS” (2010-2013).
