Abstract/Obiettivi
The main objective of ENGINE is to develop a first-time-right (FTR) and zero-defect metal product design and manufacturing system, then demonstrate it on the marine engine supply chain.
The ambition is to:
- Increase industrial competitiveness
- Reduce defects and waste
- Develop new business cases
- Improve workforce well-being
ENGINE will:
- Create and demonstrate a novel metal product design and manufacturing system
- Develop a computational modelling toolbox, non-destructive diagnostic tools, and data solutions
- Research methodologies for first-time-right and zero-defect manufacturing (ZDM)
- Investigate LCA and LCC methods for design and business decisions
- Present a workforce skills development strategy
- Transform innovations into business cases
Expected impact includes a potential CO2 emission reduction of 170 million tons annually due to green fuel engines.
