Abstract/Obiettivi

The main objective of ENGINE is to develop a first-time-right (FTR) and zero-defect metal product design and manufacturing system, then demonstrate it on the marine engine supply chain.

The ambition is to:

  1. Increase industrial competitiveness
  2. Reduce defects and waste
  3. Develop new business cases
  4. Improve workforce well-being

ENGINE will:

  1. Create and demonstrate a novel metal product design and manufacturing system
  2. Develop a computational modelling toolbox, non-destructive diagnostic tools, and data solutions
  3. Research methodologies for first-time-right and zero-defect manufacturing (ZDM)
  4. Investigate LCA and LCC methods for design and business decisions
  5. Present a workforce skills development strategy
  6. Transform innovations into business cases

Expected impact includes a potential CO2 emission reduction of 170 million tons annually due to green fuel engines.
